Improves community health and promotes sustainable development through programs developed and implemented in collaboration with local partners. Founded in 1961, PCI currently serves more than 4.5 million people annually through programs based in 15 countries in Africa, the Americas, and Asia. PCI's programs focus on integrated, community-based solutions built on interventions combining food and nutrition security, disease prevention, maternal and child health, water and sanitation, economic empowerment, and capacity building and institutional strengthening. PCI's humanitarian assistance programs are viewed as long-term development opportunities with a focus on disaster prevention and community preparedness rather than short-term relief. Programs are designed to equip and empower vulnerable individuals, families, and communities so that together they can play an active role in achieving lives of opportunity, hope, and health.
