Provides medical aid, education, and technology to people in need in developing countries worldwide. A nonprofit, humanitarian organization, MEDISEND/International's global activities include managing and distributing medical supplies and equipment in long-term medical aid programs, disaster and emergency relief efforts, biomedical equipment repair, and health care management education. The organization has distributed more than 590 shipments of medical supplies and equipment, valued at more than $72 million, to 93 countries. In 2005 and 2006, MEDISEND shipped more than $5 million in emergency relief, which was in addition to medical aid shipments to long-term partner organizations. MEDISEND extends assistance and outreach through both medical aid and education, and the far-reaching benefits of its programs offer vulnerable communities the hope of improved and sustainable health care systems.
